Chamomile - The Calming Herbs

Chamomile or sometimes called Camomile is often used for making herbal tea. There are some varieties of this herb. Some are used to make tea, some are excellent for making lawns..

Chamomile is derived from the Asteraceae family of plants that has over 22,750 species. This family is including  Asters, Daisies, Sunflowers, Chrysanthemum, Marigolds,and Dahlias..

Growing Chamomile
Like other herbs, chamomile better grow in a well drained and sunny position - even though it can adapt to almost any soil condition. The plants spread quite quickly, so they will need to be put apart at nine or ten inches. So, they are  necessary to be trimmed back to stop them invading the rest of your borders.

Uses of Chamomile
The varieties of Roman and German are most generally used to make Chamomile Tea, while the non-flowering varieties are used to make Chamomile lawns. The flowers and leaves are also used in pot-pourri, while the open flowers are used in herbal to rinse hair. Because the flowers are edible, you can also add them to salads.

Chamomile Tea is usually used for sleep aids, as well as a whole host of other ailments, including digestive and nervous disorders. And also very beneficial for individuals suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The flowers can be used in fresh or dried.

You are able to use dried chamomile flowers as an insect repellent.

Chamomile Extract 
How about chamomile extract,  is it useful?. Chamomile extract is also said to be very beneficial, medically. Chamomile extract is in powder form and ethanol is used to extract various compounds from the chamomile flowers.

Chamomile extract can help to provide relief to a person suffering from cardiovascular diseases. As the anti-inflammatory properties of chamomile, the extract is used to cure many skin problems like eczema and skin disorders. 

For those suffering from jaundice are suggested to take this extract in the form of tea to get the chamomile tea benefits. Chamomile oil is known as aromatherapy. Gels containing chamomile and chamomile oil also help in reducing various skin disorders like acne and scars.

Chamomile extract is also one of the natural anxiety cures. This extract is used extensively in alternative medicine, as it is trusted that using chamomile extract is safer than any other medication..
