Homemade Licorice Recipes

If you are impressed on licorice benefit and need some licorice recipes to try at home, here are some homemade licorice recipes :

1. Licorice Recipe to Make Licorice Tea :
Ingredients :
  • Water - 6 cups
  • Dried licorice root - 2 ½ teaspoons
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Dried peppermint - ½ cup
  • Honey - ½ cup
Procedure :
- Firstly take a large pot and pour water into it. - Place the pot over high heat and boil the water. - Add licorice and cinnamon to the boiling water and lower the heat to simmer the liquid. Then cover the pot partially with a plate and simmer it for 10 more minutes. Remove the pot from heat and add peppermint to the liquid. Cover the pot completely and let it steep for 10 minutes. Now, strain the tea and add honey to the tea. Let the tea cool completely and then place the container to refrigerate. Serve with ice cubes.

2. Red Licorice Recipe
Ingredients :
  • Unflavored gelatin - 2 envelope
  • Cherry gelatin - 3 package
  • Cherry soda - 4 cups
  • Anise extract - 2 teaspoon
Procedure :
- Take a small bowl and add both the gelatins and ½ cup of cherry soda to it. - Then pour the remaining cherry soda to saucepan and dissolve the gelatin mixture in it. - Once the gelatins get dissolved add anise extract and pour the mixture into a 9 by 13 inches pan. - Place the pan in refrigerator and your red licorice is ready.

3. Black Licorice Recipe
Ingredients :
  • Butter - 1 cup
  • White sugar - 2 cups
  • Sweetened condensed milk - 1 (14 ounce) can
  • Corn syrup - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1/8 teaspoon
  • Anise extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Black paste food coloring
Procedure :
- To prepare this licorice recipe, firstly take a 9 by 9 inches baking dish with buttered foil. - Place butter in a larger saucepan and melt it over medium heat. - Add sugar, corn syrup, milk and salt to it and boil the mixture. - Keep stirring the mixture until it boils and then continue heating it but stop stirring. - Keep heating the mixture until it attains 242 degree Fahrenheit. - Then, remove it from heat and add black food coloring and anise to it. - Pour this liquid into the pan and leave it to cool for several hours. - Once it cools completely, remove the foil and cut it into required shape with help of a butter knife. - You can wrap these pieces in waxed paper.
